While Joshua led the Israelites into the land of Canaan, the writer of Hebrews contends that God’s rest is still available to all who believe. Furthermore, this rest is not so much a place but rather is rooted in God’s purposes fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ.

In spite of God’s mighty acts of deliverance in Egypt, the Israelites still doubted his care for them in the desert and, as a result, wandered forty years in the wilderness. Their failure to finish serves as a warning for future generations to remain faithful till the end.
Mark your calendars to help raise money for kids and youth summer mission trips. From 5-9 pm we’ll host a delicious meal, and a silent and live auction. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make an auction donation. Auction tickets will be on sale in the Lobby each Sunday beginning April 7 or you can purchase tickets by clicking here.
After God delivers his people from Egypt, he leads them to Mt. Sinai where he gives them the law. Rather than being an act of domination, the law is actually a demonstration of his commitment to care and provide for them. Ultimately, the law is a gift, an expression of his love.
As we continue the story of Scripture, our readings bring us to God’s mighty acts in Egypt. When the Israelites cry out to God, he hears, and he delivers. Thus, he is forever known as the God who saves. From our perspective, we certainly recognize Jesus as the ultimate expression of that salvation, and furthermore, we sense the responsibility to embody and enact his salvation in our world today.
Dads and Dudes are invited to the annual Retreat at the Eberly Ranch. Join us Friday afternoon and Saturday, April 5th and 6th for fun, food, and fellowship. David Dotson will be leading our devotional thoughts and Phil Pettey will lead our singing. The ranch offers fishing, skeet/trap, cow pasture pool (like golf, but less frustrating), swimming, basketball and tennis. Retreat fees are $60 per person to stay in the Lodge, and $20 for tent camping and includes dinner Friday night, Breakfast and Lunch on Saturday. If you can’t make it out on Friday please join us on Saturday for the Cow Pasture Pool Golf Tournament, Fishing, Skeet, or just hanging out.
